The exhibition, curated by Lionello Puppi and Nicoletta Ossanna Cavadini, under the scientific coordination (Venice) Filippo Pedrocco and Camillo Tonini, born from the collaboration of three institutions: the Max Museum of Chiasso, where it was inaugurated in late winter this year, the National Institute for Graphic Arts in Rome, where it moved in April and the Foundation of Venice Civic Museums, where, from July 22, opens in Venice, in the halls of Ca 'Rezzonico - Museum of the Eighteenth Century.
This is an important opportunity for deepening of the art materials all in all still little known, yet of great significance for the study of art history: the matrices and engravings. In particular the first, the copper, all of the Foundation Civic Museums of Venice and the subject of a thorough restoration by the National Institute of Design, are now being put together to allow for comparison to evaluate the high quality of results achieved of this chic and elegant author, one of the most famous and important artists of all time: Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (Venice, 1696 - Madrid, 1770), a great innovator in this genre, thanks to his passionate search for valuable technical results and of rare expressive skills. It is precisely on the uniqueness of the matrices of copper G. B. Tiepolo, of which the exhibition presents a selection of specimens, which reveals the striking originality of this scientific proposal, documenting the best 'great imaginative power' of the Venetian painter. Finally a show that is a real surprise, the value of art and science is only in recent years in Italy has won the right scholarly attention and curiosity of the general public.
