From album of watercolors story in words and images, from diary in real reportage, travel notebooks is multi-faceted and possible variations to explore. Travel with the notebook is a way to observe and understand the reality and preserve the memory. A common practice in time, not only among artists. Its charm is tracked in the sequence of written pages and drawings that tell a personal story, small or large. In this hybrid object, hovering between art and literature, the Fondazione Querini Stampalia devotes two meetings organized in the framework of “Matite in Viaggio 2012. carnets disegni parole”, the event will be held at the Cultural Center of Mestre Candiani 5 to 20 October 2012. The aim of the two events is to investigate the different ways of telling a trip to four centuries. Wednesday, September 12, at 18, “I taccuini di viaggio” by Iacopo Fasolo. Presented seven of the seventeen carnet made by the Venetian traveler and writer during the past twenty-five years. An opportunity to illustrate and investigate the technical and psychological, but also to deepen, through a brief look at the history of this 'genre'.

Wednesday, September 19, at 18, 'Carte' di guerra: un taccuino di viaggio del XVII secolo'. Starring a military diary of the first years of the war of Morea (1684-87), belonging to the bottom manuscripts of the Fondazione Querini Stampalia. This is a report by an anonymous author in the wake of Francesco Morosini, Captain General of Mar of the Republic of Venice. The document, as well as being a vivid account of the successful campaign, is an important pictorial evidence.

On this occasion the entire archive material will be presented in the form of e-books. A level prototype, this new form of exploitation of an ancient document and precious, unique, opens new avenues of study for scholars and enthusiasts.
