The Dragon and the Lion - London Jin Kung

An "intercultural" journey into tradition

"The Dragon and the Lion" is dedicated to China, to her traditions and evolution until today. It is also dedicated to the way in which we have imagined this country in the course of time. We have read Marco Polo, Ariosto, Calvino, Terzani and Parise, comparing their writings with those of Confucius, with Chinese oral tradition and with contemporary novelists. The voyage of theatre exchange between the two cultures was begun by children at the Corderie of the Arsenale. Again at the Corderie, the artists of the London Jing Kun Opera will present the show called Jingmeng, the Extraordinary Dream. On the 24th and 25th, Sala Marceglia at the Arsenale, there will be the show Marco Polo and Kublai Khan, the Tale of the Invisible City; on the same days, at the Malibran Theatre, there will be the latest creation of the Jin Xing Dance Company, entitled Shanghai Tango (for the complete programme www.labiennale.org).
