Seasonal effects

 

Program rich in stimuli: this is what Luca De Fusco, organizer of the prose seasons at the Goldoni Theatre and of Verdi performances at Padua, is currently proposing. Special attention has been dedicated to theatre directors, with prestigious names such as Maurizio Scaparro, Gabriele Lavia, Lina Wertmueller, Mario Monicelli, and two great figures from the past, Strehler and Corbelli. There are also many noteworthy actors and actresses such as Mariangela Melato, Eros Pagni, Ugo Pagliai, Paola Gassman, Johhny Dorelli, Antonio Salines etc.: a dramaturgical renewal, brought about with delicacy, which places beside classic authors such as Goldoni and Pirandello some lesser-known masterpieces like Corbeille’s L’Illusione Comica, Schnitzler’s Girotondo, Urfaust. A freedom of programation, thanks to which divisions between genres are removed and the theatre of words finds space, with actors like Marco Paolini (who renders tribute to Mario Rigoni Stern), 20th century and contemporary texts (Maraini, Ginzburg), collaborations with local artistic talents (Andrea Liberovici, Pierluca Donin, Damiano Micheletto).

Alternating tones become evident from the first appointments: Luigi Pirandello’s Così è (se vi pare), from the 2nd to the 6th of November, followed by one of Ginzburg’s most famous comedies Ti ho sposato per allegria, which starts on the 30th of November. Our first appointment at the Verdi Theatre is a musical comedy, Roman Holiday, inspired by the film of the same name starring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck (from the 8th to the 13th of November). From the 22nd to the 27th of November, we can see Boris Vian’s Generali a merenda, with its ironic, satiric, anti-war tones.
