Music avant-garde

Magic, alchemy and a combination of sounds that challenges the rules of Physics, but also that explodes in many splinters that manage to stick between different styles, the sign of today’s creative music: 2006 “Risonanze” edition, presents a programme of new contemporary music important in Europe, in which barriers and definitions melt in the heat of experimentation. The Thing, for the first time in Italy, will be the first to go on stage on Saturday 18 March. On Sunday 26 March it will be the turn of the alchemy between the bass voice Nicholas Isherwood, the electronic music created by Stefano Bassanese and Paolo Pachini’s video. Then, on Friday 31 March, at Venice International University, the Ny'Gezh – Swiss/Norwegian Project. On Sunday 2 April Chris Carter & Cosey Fanny Tutti will offer the audience their exploration of the relationship between electronic and video, and on 25 May, at Teatro Aurora in Marghera, it will be the turn of Psychic TV, the provocative band founded by Genesis P-Orridge. The saxophonist Larry Ochs will be on stage on Tuesday 4 April and on Sunday 9 April it will be the turn of Barbara Hannigan’s long awaited and extraordinary recital accompanied by Fabio Nieder at the piano. Project Mass, a collaboration between the trio Looper and the great English pianist John Tilbury, will present an innovative and fascinating exploration of the interaction between pictures and sounds. The trio of the saxophonist Ellery Eskelin will be at Teatro Aurora in Marghera on Sunday 30 April with Andrea Parkins and Jim Black. Last but not least, on 14 May Mick Harvey, the guitarist of Nick Cave’s mythical Bad Seeds, will present his very presonal tribute to Serge Gainsbourg.
