The first major exhibition dedicated to the extraordinary and complex figure of Diana Vreeland (Paris, 1903 – New York, 1989), which will explore the many aspects of her work and will attempt to give key interpretations to her style and thoughts. The title emphasizes the need to de-contextualize the many pieces that make up her kaleidoscopic career, to reconnect them in a new reading of multiple meanings which define her legendary professional and life experience. An exhibition which is not limited to her clothes, but also brings to light objects and their “soul”, showing how fashion is a complex phenomenon and a point for interpretation of contemporary trends.
Moreover, on March 10th, the University of Venice IUAV will organize an international conference in collaboration with the London College of Fashion (University of the Arts London) and the Centre for Fashion Studies (Stockholm University). The conference, dedicated to the discipline of curating fashion, will have the participation of the biggest names in international museums and curating exhibitions on fashion: Harold Koda, Akiko Fukai, Kaat Debo, Alexandra Palmer, Amy de la Haye, Stefano Tonchi.
