An exceptional concert cycle 'Heroines ancient' with rare cantatas, listening to celebrate March as the month of the homage to the woman. The dramatic cantatas by Benedetto Marcello, such as Cassandra and Andromache, were composed in the late 1920s of the eighteenth century and rely mainly on subjects from Greek mythology. This cycle contains the laments of Cleopatra, Medea, Arianna, and Lucrezia but in this concert the center of the attention revolves around the plight of the two heroines overwhelmed from the Trojan war. In their laments Cassandra and Andromache mourn for the death of Ettore, hero of Troy, and the destruction of the city.
Speakers: Marco Bizzarini, author of the biography Benedetto Marcello; Francesca Scaini, soprano; Giovanna Bragadin, contralto; Nicola Lamon, harpischord.
