The Historical Regatta is the main event in the annual calendar of races Voga alla Veneta, unique discipline practiced for thousands of years in the lagoon of Venice. It is now made even more spectacular by the famous parade that precedes the events: a parade of dozens of boats typical sixteenth century, multicolored, with gondoliers in period costume carry the Doge, the Duchess and all the highest offices of the Venetian officials in a faithful recreation of the glorious past of one of the most powerful and influential Maritime Republics in the Mediterranean. Today the four competitions are divided by age groups and by type of boat: the most popular and exciting is the race of champions gondolini, whizzing in the Grand Canal to the finish line in front of the famous 'machine', the floating stage in front the palace of Ca 'Foscari.
