Opening of the Moroso Award for Contemporary Art exhibition, 23 March at the Bevilacqua la Masa Foundation in Venice, on display work from the twelve finalists,.
The MOROSO Award for Contemporary Art was created by Andrea Bruciati and Patrizia Moroso and this year is in collaboration with the prestigious Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation. The aim of the award is to give up-and-coming artists based in Italy a genuine opportunity to gain international recognition. The project is divided into three phases:
- initial nominations: a scientific committee proposed 36 artists from which a first jury has selected12 candidates;
- the exhibition: a second, different, jury assesses the projects presented and chooses 3 winners ;
-the heart of the Award: the three winners will create site-specific installations for the MOROSO showrooms in New York, London and Milan.
The twelve artists who have been chosen by the jury, formed by Andrea Bruciati, Patrizia Moroso and Olafur Eliasson, and who will show at the Venice exhibition from 23 March to 5 May 2013 are : Alek O. (Buenos Aires, 1981), Salvatore Arancio (Catania, 1974), Davide Balliano (Torino, 1983), Sergio Breviario (Bergamo, 1974), Linda Fregni Nagler (Stoccolma, 1976), Giulio Frigo (Arzignano, 1984), Paolo Gonzato (Milano, 1976), Nicola Martini (Firenze, 1984), Alessandro Piangiamore (Enna, 1976), Andrea Sala (Como, 1976), Luca Trevisani (Verona, 1979), Nico Vascellari (Vittorio Veneto, 1976).
