Fatalità

12-14 contemporary and Schleifmühlgasse 12-14 Artist Run Space Vienna are pleased to announce the opening of the FATALITÀ performance and exhibition by Laura Rambelli in collaboration with the 57th Biennale Collaterale on May 9th, 2017 from 15 - 18:30. The cooperation with Laura Rambelli was initiated by curator Oscar Sanchez in 2016. In Schleifmühlgasse 12-14 the first part of the now 6-piece Laguna series was shown in March 2016. On the occasion of the 57th Venice Biennale, the artist from Ravenna installed sculptures made of compostable materials in the lagoon around the Museo Casa Andrich on Torcello. For the opening Laura Rambelli will perform in the lagoon, to the sound of Naomi Berrill and with the costume by Ilaria Biggi.

The figures displayed in the lagoon consist of cotton threads and spindles, inspired by the traditional work of the women of Torcello. They have adopted the form of expressionistic birds waiting in the reed of the lagoon for the visitors, or for their companions. Laura Rambelli anchors her work in a kind of matriachal universe, the thread of women woven by women, which holds the world together. The thread of life, woven from birth to death, runs through the entire Laguna project. The opening performance of the sixth and final part of the Laguna series is accompanied by the sounds of looms and the beats of modern looms machines, collected and arranged by Naomi Berill. The designer Ikaria Biggi took over the task of the costume.

Laura Rambelli refers in her works to the position of women and mothers, who, although tied between the traditional tasks, break boundaries on the one hand, and on the other, resurrect archaic rituals. The naturalization of natural processes is closely related to industrialization and has narrowed the role of women. In an interview, Annie Lennox remarked that feminism can not be passé because it is about encouragement and self-determination, and that for all of us. Or, as Mariana Abramovic mentioned, a new phase of life begins for her, in which her childish curiosity is re-learned. This should be a motto for all of us, humility, awareness of body and mind, care for each other, no fear and anger.

By limiting images of earth, water, sky, fertility, life and dying, the permanent cycle of being Laura Rambelli succeeds in planting the subjects subversively into the viewer. The immediate effect of the representation is enhanced by the direct experience in the lagoon, in a natural environment. In this basis of survival. Laura Rambelli sets out what defines human beings as a higher being, the arts - the levels of international understanding, without language or cultural problems. The only way to cope with such projects under the existing conditions is the absolute solidarity and cohesion of the international artists. The community we have gathered around us over the last 8 years. Together, we are pursuing the goal of improving the situation of the artists by means of boundless contemporary art projects and of showing alternatives to incitement.

'The chassis wires,'amuleto ropes', are connected to the weaving of fate. Life is closely linked to the plots. This is why we continue to represent them and to weave threads and meetings. '

An installation of sculptures designed by the artist to be exhibited again in the lagoon and that are inspired by the spindle and waterfowl typical of the lagoon that metaphorically keep taut the thread that runs through her work to the 'great work' the woman, in close contact with the' great mystery', continues to weave throughout his life, generating, transforming, guardian of birth and death. The installation is in the Andrich House's Garden - Torcello (VE), as of May 9 the day when you can see the performance 'Fatalità' where the artist and musician Naomi Berrill represent the ancient world weaving, by the loom from the loom's beats to the voices of women at work during the weaving, through primordial gestures and sounds created specially by the musician. The intention is to carry out the most performance possible near water.

One of the purposes of the event, which began in 2016, is to bring through visual art and music contribute to the lagoon water emotional positive energy:

'The water exposed to music for only thirty minutes form crystals that reflect the music ... ' Masaru Emoto
