The Institute of Art History receives from the widow of Franco Gentilini a corpus of twenty portraits exhibited in the spaces of the Library 'Nuova Manica Lunga'.

The Institute of Art History of the Giorgio Cini Foundation announces a new important acquisition: the graphic corpus 'Portraits of Luciana' by Franco Gentilini (1909-1981) which collects twenty portraits of his wife Luciana Giuntoli Gentilini made by the artist between 1970 And 1981. In conjunction with the donation act, which will be formalized on Thursday, June 15 at San Giorgio Maggiore, a selection of this corpus will be presented until July 14 in the 'Saletta Espositiva' of the 'Biblioteca della Manica Lunga'.   Franco Gentilini's twenty designs (1909-1981) are the testimony of the artist's last and intense season, from the 1970's marriage until his death in 1981. The Franco Gentilini graphic corpus of the Fondazione Cini, almost entirely exposed in this small exhibition that wants to be a tribute to the master and the generosity of the widow Luciana, is made up of drawings of various techniques (red pencil, watercolor pencil, charcoal, tempera) and Chronology: twenty evocative portraits of Luciana Gentilini that make up a 'private' gallery rich in subtle modular expressions and characterized by fascinating iconographic recollections from the portraiture tradition of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries.
