In the exhibition spaces of Magazzino del Sale and Studio Vedova, the Foundation Emilio and Annabianca Vedova presents the exhibition 'Aldo Rossi. Teatri' and 'Emilio Vedova. Lacerazioni. Plurimi/Binari '77/'78' open to the public from 30th June to the 25th November 2012.
The exhibition dedicated to Aldo Rossi (Magazzino del Sale) meet for the first time fifteen projects of Milan architect and designer from the early sixties to 1997, through nearly 120 between studies and architectural renderings, study models and competition, drawings, props or on the subject of theater and its various aspects, both in architecture and design: the architecture designed and built, the stage sets for opera and ballet, to exhibition of spectacular impact. The exhibition is curated by Germano Celant, while the architecture have been entrusted to Study Gae Aulenti Associates Architects. The theater, like building and how the conception of space, has a very specific meaning in work and life of Aldo Rossi. For this occasion, was rebuilt on a large scale model of the Theatre World. The great model of approximately 5 meters in height welcomes visitors to the area dedicated to that famous little theater in the central plan, which is undoubtedly one of the most famous buildings of Rossi and still is alive in the memory of those who have had the lucky enough to see it move on the water, struck by the reflection of light of dawn and sunset, or watch a show or concert, leaning from balconies built with wood and hoses innocent, before it was dismantled and destroyed.
Studio vedova hosts instead the cycle of works 'Lacerazione' by Emilio Vedova. The Plurimi/Binari are painted on wooden panels asymmetric, sliding on rails in parallel in groups of 2 or 3, which, overlapping create collage in motion, close by strong steel structures which limit and compress the space scroll but increase the expressive energy. Vedova realized at the end of the 70 five cycles (I, II, III, IV and V), each consisting of ten forms in four shots. Plurimi Binari express a particular state of inner cooling, indecipherable graffiti alphabets, split white light of 'empty unsustainable', and traces of human presence in a walking aimlessly and severity. 'Lacerazione', a definition that sounds unusual and surprising in view of artist works because it indicates a position of a different nature than the most famous Vedova, it expresses the passion and intensity of that existential suffering witnessed with detachment and distance. 'Lacerazione' is also a resonance point of some of Vedova's references, loved and called, like Goya, Tintoretto, but some still more Giandomenico Tiepolo and his melancholy, gray and precipiziale fall of Venice.
