Mher Azatyan, Grigor Khachatryan and Astghik Melkonyan will present Pavilion of Armenia at the 54th International Art Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia. Scheduled to open its doors to the public on June 3rd, the exhibition will be on view until November 24th, 2011. Spanning three different generations of artists, this year's Pavilion of Armenia features prominent artists who have received prizes and awards numerously, have an extensive record of participation in high-profile international exhibitions, and whose works have attracted the attention of professional international audiences and won critical acclaim and appreciation.
The conceptual framework was developed, and the selection of the artists for the Pavilion of Armenia was carried out, by the project's curatorial team, Ruben Arevshatyan, Vardan Azatyan and Nazareth Karoyan. The commissioner of this year's pavilion is Viktor Mnatsakanyan, president of the New Cultural Policy Foundation in Armenia. The 2011 Armenia Pavilion will be located in Palazzo Zenobio, the former Moorat-Raphael Armenian College.
