The exhibition is one of the rare occasions of meeting with the Soviet children's illustration and the public. Illustrators exposed prefer fairy tales (Andersen, Perrault, Hoffmann), the themes drawn from the folk repertoire, from Russian folklore, preferring the fantastic - dreamlike, surreal and the caricatured to realism, in the wake of the great historical tradition of pictorial or Kandisky Chagall.
Soviet artists show how children's illustration is art, art without adjectives, and demonstrate that there aren’t art and children's literature, but only literature and art.
The exhibition will be introduced by Walter Fochesato, great scholar of children's literature and history of illustration.
