Locating herself in the tradition of abstract expressionism, Laurel Holloman setsout to explore the the¬mes of renewal and rebirth, focusing especially on the infinite relationships befween human fife and nature, and on whatshe terms 'elementaiy images:' water, fire, air, earth. In spite of their abstract quality, Holloman's paintings include figurative elements that remind of fife, nature and the variety of ways in which they intertwine: a night sky, o waterfall, a butteffly, raie, a sudden ray of sunshine.
