The Museum of Oriental Art of Venice will display, for the forst time, the famous masterpiece by Katsushika Hokusai The Great Wave off Kanagawa, the first in Hokusai's series Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji and is his most famous work. This particular woodblock is one of the most recognized works of Japanese art in the world. Copies of the print are in many Western collections and this one, in particular, among the most refined, has been lent from the collections of the Oriental Museum Chiossone in Genoa.
The exhibition features also a plaster model of the Gret Wave from the Tactile Museum Anteros, Institute for the Blind 'Francesco Cavazza' in Bologna, to allow tactile exploration of the work to all visitors.
