On the occasion of the 57th Venice Art Biennale, La Galleria, Italian branch of
Galerie Dorothea van der Koelen in Mainz, presents the works of ten
internationally renowned artists from six Countries, in the exhibition “Form
and Space - Concetti Spaziali”.
The title of the show refers to the artist Lucio Fontana, who baptized a large
part of his work “Concetti Spaziali”. Fontana since 1949 has created his first
Buchi, from 1958 onwards he worked at the Tagli, which have not only
destroyed the paintings physically, but also ripped the fundamental
assumptions of traditional painting in general.
La Galleria - which has always been distinguished by a strict character,
beautiful and fun, but (almost) always abstract: concrete / conceptual /
constructive - hosts therefore on these same lines young talents in Venice for
the first time, alongside known artists already guests of the Biennale.
Daniel Buren, important French exponent of conceptual art, will present a
work in colored glass, in direct reference to his solo exhibition at the
Guggenheim in New York;
in homage to the great master of concrete art François Morellet, who died
last year, one of his latest works will be on display;
the Italian contribution to the exhibition is Turi Simeti, member of the Group n.
The artist is considered a direct exponent of the works of art known as
Concetti Spaziali, therefore, we are very honored by his participation in the
exhibition;
the international artist Lore Bert presents a great new relief-object in colored
Japanese paper, created especially for the occasion and inspired by Venetian
architecture;
Sebastian Dannenberg is an exceptional young talent, and exhibits in La
Galleria for the first time its spatial painting works;
Mohammed Kazem, rising star on the UAE contemporary art scene leads this
year his most recent work, a synthesis of light and space, photography and
materiality;
Jan van Munster, already hosted in La Galleria in 2016, with his Clone-
Brainwave frames the theme of visualization of thought in a bustling energy
work;
Arne Quinze, young artist already well known for his monumental installations
in colorful wood, will present a work of the Bidonville series, a personal
reflection on urban development;
the German artist Vera Röhm presents its Ergänzungen sculptures that
combine natural and artificial materials in a symbiotic way;
on display there will be also the evocative metal works, with their almost
pictorial structure, of the German sculptor Wulf Kirschner.
The inauguration will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 17:00 at La
Galleria. The opening speech will start at 18:00, followed by a drink in the
garden.
