Senza più (roughly 'no more'), namely that which is missing, the widespread feeling of decline in our times, a relentless erosion that we are unable to estimate. Collective loss, individual loss: in laws and in the law, in social security, in work and solidarity, in forms of ethics, of war and peace, in economy, in politics and in science that assess their limits. The opulent and self-satisfied Western world strives to reset itself, as ineffective in current affairs as it is in new emergencies, and the most frequent reaction is violence, taking without motivating or by providing false motivations. The issue is loss, requiring not nostalgic solutions but simply awareness, lucidity, thirst for knowledge and to act in these times of senza più.
