Two days of literature. On 25 and 26 September basques, kurdish, irish, mexicans and italians writers will come together for a two days discussion about the issues around which Planet K has come to life, ie, identity, language and borders.
The 25 will be dedicated to a tribute to the most important living kurdish writer, Yasar Kemal, who unfortunately will not be able to attend the event due to health problems. Kemal has sent a video-message to mayor of Venice Massimo Cacciari, cultural minister Luana Zanella and to the city. The video-message will be screened at 10.30 at the Sala del Piovego, in the prestigious Palazzo Ducale.
Together with cultural minister Luana Zanella the speakers include writer Gianfranco Bettin and the film director Osman Okkan, who recorded the video-message and has already filmed an important documentary about Yasar Kemal.
The 26 will be dedicated to kurdish literature on one hand and to the discussion about identity, borders and language on the other.
Eight the writers who will join the discussion, Dilawer Zeraq (kurdish from Turkey), Arjen Ari (kurdish from Turkey), Helim Yusif (kurdish from Syria), Danny Morrison (Ireland), Fito Rodriguez (Basque country), Hermann Bellinghausen (Mexico), Enrico Palandri (Italy) and Roberto Ferrucci (Italy).
